Blog Post of the Day 5/5

I think that this video is absolutely right in every way. I think that technology is taking over our lives and we are losing our human characteristics because we are fooled into thinking that we can display those same human characteristics and emotions through technology. We are losing time that we will never regain due to being trapped and entertained by technology. I think that if we were able to put down our phones or controllers and actually sit with your friends or loved ones, we would regain our human traits. Sure, technology is a great help and has made lives better in many ways. However, nothing will ever beat sitting around a fire with your best buddies and your loved ones just talking and taking in the moment. I feel that if more people would learn to appreciate those moments, technology wouldn't be so vital to our existence.

Blog Post of the Day 4/29

What is a 'splash page'? Look it up. Explain what they are and how they are used. Find an example of a splash page in Google Images. Save the image to your computer and then upload it to your blog post. Hint - see below.

A splash page is the page of a Web site that the visitor sees first before they continue to the main content. They are used to promote things or to inform the visitor what is necessary to view the rest of the site's content. The image below is an example of a splash page because Facebook requires the user to "sign in" in order to gain full access of the website.

Blog Post of the Day 3/31

Status update! Tell me where  you are at on your product website? Can you be finished by tomorrow at the end of the hour? Do you need more time? How much more time? Be honest and explain yourself.

I am around 7 pages into my website so far. I honestly don't think that I would be finished tomorrow because it would take some time to go back and link everything up.  I think there's a shot I may be able to finish at the end of the hour Wed. But for sure I could finish by Friday.

Blog Post of the Day 3/24

Welcome back! How was your Spring Break? Tell me all about it. You've been out of school for 10 days so I know you will have plenty to share. Make it good!

For Spring Break I went to Playa Del Carmen with my family and a bunch of friends from Blue Valley. My girlfriend Caroline also came with me. We stayed in the Iberostar Tucan resort which was an all inclusive resort with a lot of cool activities going on all the time. I spent a lot of time hanging out with my girlfriend and my buddies on the beach and going out to eat. There was also a night club on our resort that was extremely popular for a lot of the kids. The only bad thing about it was the fact that there was so many creepy mexicans there. Towards the end of Spring Break, we had to come back early because the Baseball team had to go down to Oklahoma to open our season against Bishop Kelley. Luckily, we took both games with scores of 7-4 and 22-10. The worst part about break was that I was never home. I got to sleep in my bed a total of 4 times the whole break. Overall it was a lot of fun, but I'm really glad I'm home. On the other hand though I'm not happy to be back at school. I just want to hurry up and graduate at this point.

Blog Post of the Day 3/11

Do you like the layout of this project? Have you benefited from your brainstorming sheet? Was it more helpful or annoying when starting to map out your website? Explain why.

Yeah the layout seems pretty cool. It will be interesting to see what other people come up with. My brainstorming sheet has helped give me an idea of what I am going to do. But other then just reminding me of what my content pages will be, it hasn't done much. It wasn't as helpful because I already knew how I had wanted to map out my site, but if you weren't sure then I could see how it may help.

Blog post of the Day 3/10

After reading below to see where you should be on your product website - are you caught up? What helps you stay caught up in class? Do you like having small checkpoints? Are you behind? If so, what are you going to do to get caught up?

I am caught up with our project so far. I say caught up because I always try to get done whatever Mrs. Scheuerman says we shold have done for that day. If I am able to finish early then I'll begin trying to work on something else that I know i will need to do for my website. I like the small checkpoints because It keeps me aware of what I need to be doing and keeps me on pace to finish my site.

Blog Post of the Day 3/5

What idea do you have that is going to make you product website different, unique or unlike anyone else? If you're answer is you don't know - it's time to start THINKING. Explain your idea.

I'm going to put in my own color scheme along with my own different spin. I'm going to add things about the company and what is different about our products.

Blog Post of the day 3/4

What product have you decided to feature/sell on your product website? Explain why you've chosen this product and remember, the sky is the limit on this project!

I have decided to sell baseball equipment  as my product. I chose this because baseball season is about to start and a lot of stuff is going on sale. I also play baseball so I know what I am talking about when it comes to the merchandise.

Blog post of the Day 2/26

What are three things you learned about color theory and web design  yesterday? Go in to detail.

I learned that the three basic colors that a computer emits are red, blue, and green. I also learned that it's best to create a site that is easier for color blind people to see. Another useful thing is that you can contrast colors to make them fit to your liking.

Blog Post of The Day

What effect can a color scheme have on a website? How can it make a website better? How can it make a website worse? Explain why color is important.

Color scheme has a lot to do with the way your site looks. If your color scheme is boring, then you likely won't have a lot of visitors. If you have a good color scheme, then it will will keep your audience interested and most likely lead to visitors staying on your page longer.

Blog Post of the Day 2/24

What did you learn about file types as you created and designed your travel website? What are some other kinds of file types you know of? What do these different files do? Explain.

The only file types I know about are psd and png files. We learned about them when we created our travel sites. I learned that psd files allow you to edit them, while png files do not let you edit them. If I had tog uess, I would guess that html files lead to a website or online source.

html, png, psd, JPEG, jpg, pdf, hdr.

Blog Post of the Day 2/21

What was your takeaway from this Travel Site? What did you learn that you didn't know before? How will the knowledge of how we built this site help you improve your future websites?

Creating the travel site taught me a lot of cool new tricks when creating a website. In future websites I now know how to create rollover's and to use photo shop effectively when creating the site.

Blog post of the Day 2/18

How can Photoshop be a valuable tool in web design? Explain.

Photoshop can be used in Web design to create different cool features for websites such as banners. It can also be used to add a mouse over option for images that lead to other pages.

Blog Post of the Day 2/11

What do you know about Photoshop? Have you used it before? What can it do? Are you an expert? A newbie? Tell me about your background and what you already know.

I don't know much about Photoshop, but I am aware that it is used to edit and configure photos/images to the editor's liking. I've never used it before so I am not an expert by any means. I would say I am a newbie to Photoshop.

Blog Post of the Day!

Think about how a user (me or anyone else using your site) might function and interact with your site. What are some important functional features to make your website easy to work with? How can you make it easier for the user and not frustrating? Explain why this is so important.

My site is very easy to navigate because you can find all the information you may be looking for or need right in front of you. It's simply a click away. The navigation bar is very easy to get through, and the content of the pages gives all the information someone would need to know about me. It's so important to have a site that's easy to function because people get annoyed very easily. I speak fro experience that when I'm on websites and can't find what I'm looking for quickly, I will exit the site. It's important for the functions to be good to you don't lose visitors.

My Sweetheart Weekend

Tell me about your Sweetheart weekend. If you didn't go to Sweetheart, what did you do? I want details!

This weekend I went to the Sweetheart Dance at Blue Valley West with my girlfriend Caroline. In the afternoon I had baseball practice from 12-3 and once that was over I had to rush home. When I was home I cleaned my car and ironed my clothes. I relaxed for about an hour and then took a shower and got dressed for pictures at 6:30. We had pictures at my girlfriends house and then we went to dinner at Hoolihans. Then we went to the dance for about 10 minutes. West's dances SUCK. Then after we went to an after-party and had fun.

Blog Post of the Day!

Tell me about your All About Me site. What are going to be your 4 main content pages? Why did you choose those topics? What big plans do you have for your site that is going to make it different and creative?

Well, the title of the site pretty much explains itself! The website that I am currently making is all bout me! My main topics are my family, hobbies, sports, and school! I chose these because they would be the easiest to elaborate on and would give the best insight to who I am. The website will be different because I'm putting my own style into it. More things i'm interested in and what my life is all about!

Coding

What are your thoughts on HTML code? Did you enjoy the coding activity? Do you feel like you learned anything? Explain yourself.

I thought that the HTML code was alright. I wasn't too interested in it, but i also understand that it is necessary.I learned how to add link and stuff with code. I learned a little bit on how to code a website.

Tell me about your three day weekend. How was it? What did you do? Elaborate!

Over the weekend I was grounded. However, I was able to hang out with my girlfriend and go see a movie with her. We saw Lone Survivor and I thought it was really good. Although It's somewhat unrealistic how many times they get shot and still run around. But other than that it was a great movie!

Images on the Internet

Tell me if you agree with this statement and then explain why or why not. "Images on the internet are 'free game' - if someone posted it, I should be able to use it."

In my opinion, I agree with the statement above. I agree because there are millions of pictures on the internet and if you put  a picture out where anyone and everyone can see it, then you are practically giving them permission to do with it whatever they please. When a picture is put on the internet, it's free game. That's why there is such thing as Google Images.

Plagiarism

What do you know about plagiarism? What do you know about plagiarism on the internet? How do web design, the internet and plagiarism all effect each other? Explain.

Plagiarism is when you take someone else's work and claim it as your own. The internet is a common area where plagiarism happens. Many people use articles they find on the internet or information and use it in their own work. The only way someone is allowed to do that is if they site a source or if they put the same information into their own words. Web Design, the internet and Plagiarism all effect each other because a lot of the information that people use on blogs is from the internet.

Friday, January 10

What do you already know about web design? How it works? Programs you can use? Tools that exist? Anything.

I don't really know that much about web design. I do know how to use basic programs and functions of the computer. I have no idea how to set up a website, but I am very familiar with a lot of social networks. I know that Godaddy.com is a site that helps you create websites. I know that a lot of codes are involved and some codes give actions and tell the site what to do and how to maintain it.
